The energy sector is faced with many challenges when it comes to project design and construction. Many times access/construction roads need to be built over soft, wet soils and must be able to support very heavy loads. Touch and step hazards abound at electrical substations. Pipelines can traverse over hilly/mountainous areas where slopes need to be stabilized after construction is complete. As in all construction projects, stormwater needs to be managed. Presto Geosystems can provide cost-effective, low-maintenance, quality solutions for all of these potential issues using our GEOWEB® 3D Soil Stabilization System (Geocells) and GEOTERRA® Construction Mats. This webinar will explore the solutions and services that are available through Presto. Learning Objectives: Learn about the development of geocell technology, the general applications where it can be used, and the different installation accessories available. Understand how geocells can be useful in energy sector applications, specifically in load support, channel protection, and slope protection. Learn how geocells can eliminate touch and step hazards while still providing stable work surfaces. Gain an understanding of the variety of applications GEOTERRA mats can be used for on construction sites–temporary and permanent use. Learn about successful energy projects using the GEOWEB geocells and GEOTERRA Construction Mats.
Reduce Stormwater Infrastructure with Vegetated & Aggregate Porous Pavements Presented by Sam Justice
Today’s increasingly stringent stormwater regulations continue to create the need for stormwater management. The preferred method is to retain the stormwater on-site rather than having it move off-site through overland flow or into storm sewers. Typical solutions—retention or detention ponds—are expensive to construct, occupy valuable land, require significant maintenance, can be safety hazards, and are unattractive nuisances. An alternative solution is to reduce the amount of impermeable surface on the site. Hard-surface (asphalt and concrete) porous pavements are expensive and can be very difficult and time-consuming to install. Rigid and flexible plastic porous pavement systems provide a low-cost, easy-to-install surface designed to handle the most demanding load requirements. The porous pavers from Presto Geosystems can have a vegetated or aggregate infill. Learning Objectives: Understand the benefits of porous pavements. Learn how the rigid and flexible porous pavements perform under varying infill materials and traffic-loading conditions. Learn how to apply vegetated and aggregate porous pavements for a variety of project conditions. Understand how porous pavements are capable of detaining stormwater runoff.
