Project Name: Bucyrus Road Base Stabilization
Project Location: Bucyrus, Ohio
PROJECT BACKGROUND
Ohio DOT (ODOT) needed to establish a roadbase in an area that had poorly marked and shallow utilities to eliminate the need for undercuts. ODOT and Presto’s engineers developed a design that eliminated the need for a 12- inch undercut and delays that would occur due to utility relocation.
PROJECT MATERIAL
148,500 sq. ft. of 6 inch Presto GEOWEB sq. ft. of 6” GEOWEB
DESIGN SUPPORT INFORMATION
ODOT type D woven fabric over existing sub-base, 6-inch GEOWEB material filled with 411 aggregate compacted with a 2-inch surcharge over the top.
RESULTS
ODOT, Bucyrus, and Anderzack-Pitzen were all pleasantly surprised by how quickly the GEOWEB system was installed and performed versus conventional construction practices. The GEOWEB load support solution provided an immediate compacted road base that will stabilize this area for decades.
